God Bless the English Rose.

Amongst all the vivid make-up colours of the UK Summer 2011 (think whisps of blue eyeshadow; vibrant green mascara; the return, yet again, of metallics) a softer, more 'wearable' island of cosmetic refuge awaits those of us who possible aren't quite so bold. Let's face is, the UK has a plethora of English Rose beauties for us to emulate. Think Sophie Dahl, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet and (currently the front page darling thanks to the final 'Potter' installation...) Emma Watson. They all do it so well. Dewey, soft and lovely; the look is so feminine it just makes me want to bake scones and have a big, girly gossip over tea with these ladies.

The key to really nailing the the English Rose look is in the 'dewy-ness'. Soft cheeks with moisture is the answer, so invest in a great natural moisturiser at night and use a tinted moisturiser during the day. A cream blush will do the rest. Carry a spritzer to 'refresh' and rehydrate your skin throughout the day and give it a soft lustre.

Next, for your eyes don't over use mascara and just use a pink or a peach shade on the lid. No liquid eye liner allowed here girls, that belongs with the turquoise nail polish and blood orange eye shadow. Use your eye lash curler though, it's a great tool in creating this look. Tip: Put a little Shell Lip Balm onto your eyebrow brush and lightly comb through your brows. It will keep them in place perfectly and give them a little 'sheen' - adding to the 'dewy' look.

Finally, pop a little colour onto your lips and finish by applying Shell Lip Balm for a fantastically moisturised pout. Then all you need to do is pretend you're in Pride & Prejudice... oh, and bake those scones.
